In the southern part of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, Lake Walchen is located between the village of Jachenau and the districts of Zwergern, Walchensee, Einsiedel and Urfeld. The lake owes its nickname “Bavarian Caribbean” to its beautiful turquoise color. Around Walchensee you will find numerous bathing places that invite you to linger. Sailors, kitesurfers and windsurfers get their money’s worth due to the excellent thermal conditions. Due to its clear visibility under water and the large number of different wrecks, the Walchensee is also particularly interesting for divers. The dreamlike scenery has already been used as a backdrop in numerous films. Most recently in the live-action filming of Wickie. Part of the scenery still stands in the Walchensee district today.
