The first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 on the occasion of the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese. From then on, the festival grew every year to its current size. It takes place every year from mid-September to early October. The typical garb is the dirndl and lederhosen. At the Oktoberfest there are numerous attractions such as the Devil’s Wheel or the tapping of the barrel by the mayor of Munich. Since 2010 there is also the “Oide Wiesn” on the Oktoberfest with historic rides and marquees.
