Bad Tölz is a climatic health resort and is located 14 kilometers from the Posthotel Hofherr. The Marktstraße offers shopping facilities as well as a diverse architecture. The gabled houses date back to the 18th century and are decorated with Lüftlmalereien. The Bulle von Tölz Museum is a tribute to the television series of the same name. There it is possible to learn about the actors, the filming locations as well as about all the backgrounds of the series. The Tölz town museum shows the history of the Tölz region and crafts on three levels. On display are, for example, old carpenter’s work and paintings. The most important exhibit is the skeleton of a Celtic woman who lived in the district about 2,000 years ago. The Calvary above the center of Tölz not only offers a beautiful view of Bad Tölz and the Isar valley, but also represents the Passion of Christ. On the way up from Marktstraße, there are various scenes of Christ’s journey to the crucifixion. At the top of Calvary is the Holy Cross Church, next to which the crucifixion scene is depicted, and the Leonhardi Chapel. The Tölzer Leonhardifahrt is an intangible cultural heritage of Bavaria. It takes place annually on November 06. The tradition has existed since 1772 and involves more than 80 decorated four-horse carriages with pilgrims. The pilgrimage starts at 9:00 am and leads from the bathing part via Marktstraße to Calvary. At the Holy Cross Church there is a festive service and the blessing of the horses.
